Sarahs !st sport

Sarah Started Baseball yesterday it was AWESOME she did so well, We didnt know what to expect. would she zone after a few minutes or would she be DONE after she got board after the 1st hit of the base ball.

But she shocked us all. after a few pointers she got the hang of it except that when she was on second base and the other team was at bat she would try to get them out even without the ball it was too cute. what fun she was having. I never thought she would have so much fun. She is on a team with other special needs children so no pressure . she did great and loves it so much.

In june she will be trying soccer too. cant wait.
We will be trying sailing if things work out too.

Meet Sarah

Hi my name is Sarah Mommy is writing this for me as I'm 8 years old and missing a chromosome.
I was born on March 5th 2002. 2 weeks before my due date. I weighed 5 lbs 4 oz's. The Dr. who stuck something down my throat listened to my heart and heard what sounded like a wash machine. ( A large hole A.S.D. Atrial septal defect ) and a P.V.S. Pulmonary valve stenosis

I was too weak to have surgery so they wanted to wait till I weighed more. so every few months they would move the dead line up a few months.... mommy and daddy were so worried I was not going to make it. I saw flashes of bright white light every few hours. ( that was my mommy taking as many pictures as she could.) My 1st 4 years I was so sick all the time. I got R.S.V. Just before my 2nd Birthday. then every time i got a cold I was hospitalized for 3 days. That summer I got Pneumonia and 2 weeks after that I got strep throat. Mommy never left the hospital. So worried something was going to happen.
My trip to Toronto Sick kids was awesome the nurses and Doctors were really nice.
We stayed at the Delta Chelsea Hotel Now that was fun they had a indoor outdoor water slide but i was too small to go down it and they had a big play room with activity center to play in . They even had a bunny (who was not friendly)
My sister was Just a tiny baby then.We tried to make the trip as fun as possible before my operation, couldn't do much cause it was still too cold to go far. But too look up to the tops of the sky scrapers was really neat we live in a smaller city no huge buildings here.My mommy and daddy hung on every word the Dr. said Before my surgery. He said " the procedure would probably take 5 hours at least if no problems arise". So mommy was in the prayer room and daddy was outside pacing. the volunteer came to the prayer room after 3 and 1/2 hours telling mommy the "Surgeon wanted to talk with us" mommy was in a panic she flew to the hallway to see the surgeon hold his hands up and say "Relax , everything went well, We patched the hole and cleared the blockage. she is headed up to recovery. her incision continues to bleed but it is due to the blood thinners. We are giving her plasma to replace what she is loosing. you should be able to see her in a hr." Mommy and daddy thanked he from the bottom of their hearts.
mommy brought my Jesus music with my portable speaker and disc man.
they tell me when I was in a medically induced comma (because of the breathing machine I had a really high fever too) but when the song "If your happy and you love Jesus clap your hands" came on I clapped my hands the Dr. and daddy seen this. The Dr. said "if that's not a good sign then i don't know what is"
It took a week and a half to recover. and we stayed at the Ronald McDonald House until my check up Just in case of problems. We got tickets to the Toronto Maple Leafs Game. Wow that was loud. but after the second period I started enjoying myself. It was just me and Daddy, mommy had to go home with my sister.

I started a preschool stars program to get me use to going to school it was half a day and it was teaching me Independence. I started JR. Kindergarten in January. It was a full day every other day and on my off day's I would go to day care where I had a therapist who helped me with life skills for school and physio.
school is amazing. not once did I ever miss my mom. but as soon as I got home they would both give me great big hugs to show me they missed me. I love this reaction.
I still get sick but not as bad as I did before my surgery. My heart isn't taking as much from me as it use to.I still get sick quicker than average kids, I just bounce back quicker than before.
I had to go back 2 years later to get my tonsils and adenoids out. and tubs in my ears. This time my surgery was booked for July 4th. we Traveled to Toronto 3 days Before my surgery , just like before to have a little vacation before. we went to center Island and had a picnic on the beach. We went to watch the Canada Day fireworks We were at the Toronto Exhibition Stadium grounds. My sister was just about 1 year old and she fell asleep before the fire works started.
We stayed at the Residents hotel and that's where Beca took her 1st steps.
I grind my teeth all the time and in 2008 I had to get my 4 front teeth removed because the nerve was showing and it was very painful.
I still chew on lots of things no matter how close an eye my mommy keeps on me.

I am In a regular Catholic school with the help of and educational Assistant who sits with me all day. I cant read yet and I can sorta write my name. I can talk but if you don't know me you might not be able to understand me. I talk like I'm deaf.
I'm in a grade 2 class but studying at the JR. kindergarten level.
I love Music and dancing, Jumping on my trampoline and my family. I get irritated very easily and my temper flares quite easily for no reason. I use to bit and hit allot but now its just pushing and kicking. I'm trying to control this but its hard when I don't realize I'm doing it most times.
Well I think we have wrote enough for now.
We will keep you updated and if you ever want to know something specific please leave a message.
thanks for listening to my story we will add more to it at a later date
